Have you ever wondered what it would be like to talk to a ghost?

Have you wondered what tales from beyond the grave, a ghost would tell?

On the TV ghost shows everybody loves to watch, the investigators are always going around loaded up with their fancy gadgets and technology – but I find they just ask the same questions over and over.

Rarely do they get the whole story from the dead about who they are, what their personalities are like, and why they are still hanging around earth. That is, unless they happen to have a good psychic medium with them, who can actually just have a chat with spirits of the deceased.

So what are ghosts really like?

Ghosts are just people like us.

During the fourteen years that I’ve worked as a paranormal investigator, I’ve been blessed with discovering that I have lots of mediumship gifts. So now, I get to just chat with spirits, just like we would if we were sitting down and having a cup of coffee or tea together.

It’s a bit like when you just met a stranger at a party and are getting to know all about them: their life, what they do it or don’t like – and what they’re doing there, at the party.

Wanna talk to ghosts? You might be able to!

Did you know that you may have the ability to talk to ghosts too? It’s called clairaudience – intuitive hearing. That’s the ability to both hear and talk to spirits.

It’s actually my opinion that *everyone* has the potential to develop such intuitive gifts. But I’ll save that thought for another blog article to come. Because it really deserves, and needs, a whole article on its own. 😉 Stay tuned for more!

This is what I’ve learned from talking to ghosts and other spirits (yes, there are other kinds of spirits – and they are not necessarily evil either).

What I’ve personally learned and experienced from spirits…

This is what I’ve have learned from each of my personal paranormal encounters with spirits:

They can have big personalities, that are larger than life, with stories of parties and past good times on earth that they still yearn for.

Sometimes they are wracked by guilt, for how they ended their earth life.

Sometimes they are more quiet and resigned from living in the shadows.

Sometimes they are angry and resent the living.

Sometimes ghosts miss the little things…

Sometimes they’re grouchy from missing their daily cup of coffee, as was the case with one spirit lady I encountered. Seriously, that’s what she was craving, during her decades stuck on earth as a spirit! Luckily, we were able to finally get her a deep coffee fix to satisfy her urges.

Sometimes they are simply thrilled and happy because someone can finally see and hear them.

Sometimes spirits remain because they are still are watching over their loved ones, and tucking them in at night. I find this is a common phenomenon with moms who may have died suddenly. They are still taking care of their loved ones in the house…or trying to.

Sometimes spirits can be confused or angry, because they’re wondering why strangers are living in their house. This is actually very common. Wouldn’t you be angry if you saw people just tramping through your house, without your permission?

Ghosts have feelings too, just like us. Often, they are simply hurting. That is definitely the most common denominator amongst them all, that most ghosts share. Or else, why would they not choose to go through the Light, when the Light came from them?

What would you do, if you could help a ghost?

What would you say, to help relieve a ghost’s pain?

Would you want to have the ability to talk to ghosts yourself?

Bright Blessings,
Aurora 😊💖🙏

This blog is a reminder that no matter where you are or who you are, spirits are never far from you, whether wanted or not. Even after spending the last 12 years investigating the paranormal and communicating with spirits, I have often found that many events and investigations tend to have little to no evidence of anything supernatural. However, I believe I have gained my best piece of proof while at work; I did not expect to have ended up capturing spirits on camera that night. Instead, I expected it to be another long boring night of grinding away securing my building.

This event happened in 2018; I was a night guard in Chelmsford in Essex, England. I was alone working guard, which means if and when things got a bit heavy, I never had any backup outside of being able to call the police, but it seemed that it wasn’t the living I needed to be careful of.

It was around 03:00, and I was due to go on patrol. I guarded a building which is a financial data building that had thousands of servers containing bank information of millions of transactions, as well as an underground printing facility and a cheque control room that had a few million pounds worth of blank cheques at any given time. I should mention that this building was relatively new and was built on a cemetery, which leads me to believe that this land had many attachments as opposed to the building being haunted.

While on my patrol, I took my heavy metal torch with me, which like most security officers in the UK know, is a great weapon should we ever come up against any unwanted trouble. Torches are also something legal we can carry; unlike our friends in the states who can legally arm themselves, we were not given any weapons, so we often buy the biggest and heaviest torches we can find. I headed downstairs to the underground rooms scanning the tags on my work phone, and then I came up to the post room.

As soon as I got to the room, just before entering, all the hairs on my body stood up like there was a massive pulse of static; I had goosebumps, and I just knew from experience that something or someone was close by, and I had this gut feeling telling me not to go in the postal room. So hence, I got my phone out, and instead, I took a Live Photo of the room through the door, and you can see below, clear as day, a “head” or “heads” with white eyes staring back at me, it was like they popped their head out of the box on the floor and were staring at me.

As soon as I saw the image, I realized I was not alone. I respected the spirit’s wishes to be left in peace and never entered that room again. I used to walk by and even say hello sometimes, hoping I could get on with my job and not disturb them any more than they had already been concerned, as I firmly believe these were spirits of people buried on the ground previously.

I class this as the best evidence I have ever captured as it’s blatant and in your face. I have the Live Photo also, which proves no image has been tampered with in any way, and on top of that, I was alone in the building as I was most nights. I have actively investigated hundreds of haunted locations, which is the best evidence I have ever received.

What’s more, I also covered a building in Basildon that the same company owned, and when doing a night shift alone there, I was the only person in the office as usual at night, and the investigator in me kicked into gear. I just felt like I was not alone anymore, so I took out my phone and took a picture of an office because I always felt like I was being watched when I walked past. I heard noises coming from there. I am 100% confident that no one else was in the building because at every doorway, entrance, and exit, you had to scan your pass to unlock the door, and with the software, I could see if anyone was in the building, there was not.

As I took the photo, I noticed a black figure sitting at the desk. The figure was transparent, as you can see the trunking on the wall behind it. Again, this event blew my mind, and I rang up one of the permanent night guards working in Basildon. He told me that he and other guards had witnessed a ton of stuff over the years, including a kitchen staff member who got pushed over and attacked the camera by what was nothing.

So let this be a reminder that you are never far from a spirit. Because spirits surround us, you should always protect yourself and be respectful; the spirit world is all around us, and you don’t need to seek it actively. As if a spirit wants to communicate with you, it will find a way.

On a recent investigation, I learned a valuable lesson, the importance of a bulletproof equipment setup. The location is a house in Northwest Ohio that was built in the 1800’s and has a long history of being the town’s center of activity. We have investigated it several times and there are documented murders that have happened there. It was a brothel, hotel, stagecoach stop, dance club and much more throughout it’s history.

The team I was working with was conducting a session in the owner’s daughter’s bedroom where activity seemed to be frequent. I like to step back a little bit from sessions and get a feel for the rest of the house as the team investigates a certain area. I was standing in the doorway with my back to the hallway and paying more attention to what was going on outside the room. Then I heard something. Clear as day, I heard someone walking, either on the floor above me or below me. I could not tell which. I immediately called out to see if anyone had come into the house and no one replied. There is a bell on the door to alert people if anyone enters and that did not go off. I could not wait to get home and go over the data from the equipment I had set up.

Without getting too geeky, here is the short version of the equipment we had set up. We used seven DVR cameras, four of which had audio. I also love my Zoom H6 recorder with XLR microphone inputs. That is twelve pieces of equipment alone to analyze, not including the handheld devices in use at the time as well.

I started analyzing the equipment I had set up on the first floor, which consisted of one DVR camera with audio and two tracks on the Zoom recorder and came up empty handed. I then turned to the second floor equipment, which is where the session was taking place and caught the footsteps faintly on the DVR camera and zoom mic that I had in the second floor hallway. I was getting closer. I then went to the third floor DVR camera that was placed in a balcony that overlooked the former ballroom of the location and the footsteps were loud on that device. Then I listened to the zoom microphone that I had placed in the ballroom and that was it, that is where the footsteps came from. In my head, I imagined an old cowboy looking figure walking through the ballroom, heavy footed. There was one more piece of equipment to look at, the camera in the ballroom. At this point, I knew the timestamp that I was looking for and fully expected to see a full body apparition walk in front of the camera. I was so excited. It’s coming, here it is…….the gas heater kicks on. It makes some noises that sound identical to footsteps as it kicks on, I was so disappointed.

The positive about this experience is knowing that I had debunked something, that if I had not looked at everything or had not taken the time to do a proper set up, I would have passed that along to the owner as evidence that something walked through his ballroom. I had audio from multiple sources that I would have played for him.

Here are the lessons I learned from that night. First, always take the time you need and not the time you have to set up enough equipment to properly surveil the location you are investigating. The interview process took longer than it should have and cut into my setup time. Because of that I thought about scrapping some of my equipment placement as the investigators were giving me dirty looks to finish setting up. I stuck with my guns and did it my way.

Second lesson, review everything. I could have stopped at the multiple recordings I had of the footsteps and passed that along to the homeowner as evidence and he would have thought, “Omg, we’ve got a ghost in our ballroom”. The kids in the house could have potentially been more scared than what they were already. It is extremely important to not add to the paranoia that is already taking place. This particular house yielded multiple pieces of “evidence” that I debunked because of a good solid setup.

There is a video of this process on Boo Productions Paranormal on YouTube, titled “How to setup equipment for a paranormal investigation”. In this video you will hear and see the camera and microphone placements and the debunking process.

One of my favorite things to do on a paranormal investigation is to do at least one session that utilises the Estes Method.

I first saw it being used in a video that my mentor, Harold St John of the Toledo Ohio Ghost Hunters Society, had made at the Buxton Inn in Granville, Ohio. Harold asked the questions, and Becky McClenathen, the receiver, shouted out responses. In the video, Harold says, “I’m going to count to five. Can you tell me what comes next?”

Becky quickly responds with, “Six.” Then, a few seconds later, she says, “Five…Six.” Immediately after, Harold replies, “That was perfect, thank you!” Becky then says, “perfect.” I knew after viewing that I had to implement that into my bag of tricks. It was so cool to see immediate responses to questions. The video is on the Toledo Ohio Ghost Hunters Society YouTube page.

The experiment is quite simple and utilizes the SB7 spirit box, headphones, a blindfold, and at least two people. One person, the receiver, will have a seat with their back to anyone else in the room. They will also wear a blindfold and headphones plugged into the SB7 spirit box.

Their job is to say any words or phrases that come out of the device aloud. In reverse, I like to use the AM band sweep as fast as it will go. The second person is the giver. Their job is to ask questions, and hopefully, some of the responses coming from the receiver will line up with the questioning.

I enjoy this method because it provides instant feedback as to whether or not you may be communicating with spirits. I have had times where absolutely nothing has happened, as well as instances where it will go on for 45 minutes with what appears to be full-on conversations with spirits. Another observation I have made over the years is that if you add mediums or sensitive people into the mix, the responses seem to line up more. The most impressive session I have ever witnessed was at the Century Tavern in North Ridgeville, Ohio. It is a building that is being renovated back into a bar that is rich in history, including a stagecoach stop and a location on the underground railroad. That session was the first time that many questions and answers lined up for over twenty minutes. There is a video of this session on my YouTube page, Boo Productions Paranormal.

Another time this experiment seemed to work well was at an old warehouse in Toledo, Ohio. It is currently a restaurant called The Spaghetti Warehouse. Again, we experimented with remarkable success, backed up by other paranormal activity, such as EVPs and the sounds of someone coming up the steps. Audible voices were detected as well. There seemed to be a female spirit, children, and a grumpy man. Afterwards, we learned that the location was smack dab in the middle of the tenderloin district in 1918. In this area of Toledo, anything was permissible. Drugs, alcohol, and prostitution were ignored in that area. This thought may be a stretch, but where there is prostitution, there are children that need to be looked after and kept away from everything. Could the third floor of this old warehouse have been an area where a woman was watching all the children?

I plan to use this method in the future. I have produced some ideas to make it a little more scientific. First, the next time I do this, I will have a list of questions that will be the only ones asked, containing questions that have nothing to do with the regular line of questioning. I have noticed the responses tend to direct the line of questions. I want to ensure that the receiver does not accidentally have a subconscious list of answers. Second, I want to use a splitter on the output of the SB7 spirit box to record the spirit box noise while the receiver is shouting out responses. This way, I can determine if that is what is coming out of the spirit box.

Being a teenager is such a compelling period in your life – it gives you some of your worst scars
and some of your most exhilarating moments. Of course, no one truly knows what they will do in
a particular situation until they are actually in it, but you don’t think that far ahead as a teenager.
I firmly believe that there are no coincidences in life. That everything happens for a reason.
Whether it’s paranormal or not. The people that wander in and out of your life, the situations you
find yourself in, and the good and bad choices you make were all designed to bring you to that
one moment.

When I was 19, this happened to me. Since I was old enough to remember, I always felt
incomplete. Like I was a puzzle, and a piece was missing, a part of myself that I wasn’t in tune
with. Something or someone is always watching from the periphery. Nothing terrible necessarily,
just always there.

A horrifying experience occurred to my friends and me one evening in 1992. We had a
get-together at their home and decided to use a Ouija board. By any ghost hunter’s standards,
Ouija boards are strictly taboo for obvious reasons, i.e., they create easy access (doorways) for
demons or entities to venture in and out of other dimensions. But in 1992, the problems
associated with Ouija boards weren’t common knowledge. There were no Ghost Hunter shows
on TV. Nothing with which to educate yourself unless you spend hours sitting in a library.
Nothing prepares you for something this unbelievable, this unexpected. Nothing can make you
believe it happened unless you were there. I don’t remember much from that evening once we
started playing with the board. However, I remember my friends and I starting to move the
planchette around the board, asking questions, etc. Most often, the spirits contacted through the
Ouija are those who reside on “the lower astral plane.” These spirits are often confused and
may have died a violent or sudden death; murder, suicide, demonic, etc. Therefore, as was the
case for me, many violent, hostile, and potentially dangerous conditions are present to those
using the board.

The planchette started moving erratically by itself; the flames on the candles we used were
growing tall. The room became freezing, and a strange odor permeated the room. I could hear
my friends calling my name, but I could not answer. I was unable to move my body from the
chair I was in. I cried heavily but did not make any noise as I could not move, only massive
tears. I was experiencing a nightmare during this time, but I was completely wide awake .
It all felt like a horrible dream. I was fighting for my life; only it wasn’t mine. The man I fought
with was tall, dark, and wearing the same period clothing. But something about him looked off.
His eyes were dark, his face just pure evil. His hands were on my throat, and I couldn’t breathe.
A young girl stood there, off to the side, watching like she could not move. I woke up with my
face painfully smashed against the hardwood kitchen table we had been using. My head and
neck were sore for a few days, and the bruising on both areas was impossible to deny. But there
was a story there that needed answers. I was attacked by something malevolent and evil, and I
wanted answers.

What is more terrifying – the things we imagine or the things that are real? I couldn’t think about
anything else for days. Who was this man, this demon who attacked me? I only knew how to
start getting answers was to try it again.

The problem with doing this repeatedly, other than just being plain stupid, is that whatever this
thing was, it didn’t need the board to do its dirty work any longer. It was out. We went to the
library and tried to find any information on the facts we could gather. It got to the point where I
looked horrible, lost weight, couldn’t eat, and couldn’t hide the bruises on my throat any longer.
Nothing can compare to the feeling of absolute hopelessness.

I went to my mother’s church and spoke with her pastor. Then, I read books on paranormal
happenings, possessions, and Ouija boards until I couldn’t read anymore. Ultimately, in the end,
I determined that there are some things in this world and out of it that we aren’t meant to
understand. It’s a terrifying thing in the world—taking someone on faith that all will be well in the
end. But that was precisely what I had to do.

I didn’t believe in ghosts or demons until this happened to me. Faith believes in something when
common sense tells you not to. In rare situations, we are saved by faith alone to get us through
when all else fails.

These experiences were the catalyst for my researching and investigating the paranormal. If
finally telling this story helps even one person who might have been through the same ordeal, it
will have been worth it. You only need to find one good reason you should, and I did.
